Flex Machine Tools, Incorporated from Wapakoneta donated an Ergo-Arm and new grinder to the weld shop. Students helped install the arm and set up the grinder recently.
ILHS parent Bryan Finfrock is a sales manager for Flex Arm. He explains that some ILHS industrial classes toured their facility earlier this year and they realized that some of their products, like the Ergo Arm, could further the education process in the school's shop.
"It's going to take away some of the safety problems associated with grinders like setting them down on the blade where they'll fall off the table or setting down a blade face up where they expose a potential hazard, taking away the weight of a 30-pound grinder that you hold all day and the fatigue it causes. This product fixes all that."
Finfrock estimates the donated equipment at $3,000.
ILHS Welding Instructor Dave Snapp says the students will use the new tool to prep their metal for welding, grind mill scale, chamfer and shape steel.
