One year ago, the Community Health and Wellness Partners Clinic opened at ILMS!
Let's celebrate your School-Based Health Center! The school is the primary location children spend most of their time. With school-based health care, students can connect with providers* in a way that minimizes overall disruption to their learning activities - including tardiness or early dismissals. Medical, Nutrition, Behavioral Health and Pharmacy services are available for staff, students, and their families. For more information about School-based Health Centers, visit: CHWPcares.org or call us at 937-599-1411

*Families maintain complete control over what health services their children receive or do not receive.

CHWP opens

February is National School-based Health Care Awareness Month – a time to recognize the important impact these programs have on healthcare access in Ohio and across the nation. With that in mind, school officials, students, and staff members from Community Health and Wellness Partners cut the ribbon to officially open the CHWP Indian Lake School-Based Health Clinic recently.

Several community members, Chamber of Commerce representatives from Indian Lake and Logan County, along with officials from the Ohio Department of Education and more gathered at the clinic inside Indian Lake Middle School.

Indian Lake Superintendent, Dr. Robert Underwood, is pleased to offer this service on campus. “The Health Center is another resource that supports the Indian Lake mission to educate the whole child. Results far exceeded our expectations this fall when the Center opened to provide behavioral health
services. The addition of primary care medical services further enables us to meet the basic needs of students, which reduces lost educational time and allows students to reach their full potential.”

So far, providers have seen more than 70 clinic patients since the soft opening in January. More than 50 students are also receiving mental health counseling regularly since those services started in the fall.

CHWP President/CEO Tara Bair told a group of ILMS students attending the event, "You are the future and someday you'll be taking care of us. We are glad to show you that your health is important!"

The school-based health center started off in October, providing behavioral health services for students and staff with intervention case manager, Alayna Levingston, and therapist Bethany Henry LPCC. Primary care services began January 4 with the addition of a Certified Nurse Practitioner Breanna Detrick, and Medical Assistant, Daun Myers. Providers are able to diagnose and treat illnesses, provide sports and work physicals, prescriptions, traditional and rapid testing of certain illnesses, and select vaccinations for students at all grade levels and adults. The Indian Lake School-Based Health Center serves students, staff, and their immediate family members, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The Indian Lake Community Health and Wellness Partners School-Based Health Center is now fully staffed and open.
As of January 4th, Nurse Practitioner Breanna Detrick and Medical Assistant Daun Myers are available during school hours for health care needs.
Detrick explains, "We can serve as a primary care, or more like an urgent care medical treatment. It can be a one-time visit or if you want to have all your health care here, we can do that, as well."
Located within Indian Lake Middle School, the facility is equipped with private patient spaces.
Providers can offer diagnosis of common illnesses, work physicals, prescriptions, ordering of tests, certain rapid result tests and some scheduled vaccinations for students in any grade level at Indian Lake and IL staff members.
The Community Health and Wellness Partners Clinic at Indian Lake Schools opened last fall for mental health referrals and treatment. Case Manager Alayna Levingston provides intervention and Bethany Henry provides therapy. They continue to offer those services on site daily.
Indian Lake Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood is pleased to offer this service on campus.
"The Health Clinic is another resource that supports the Indian Lake mission to educate the whole child. Results far exceeded our expectations this fall when the Clinic opened to provide mental health services. The addition of medical services further enables us to meet the basic needs of students, which reduces lost educational time and allows students to reach their full potential."
If a student presents with an illness/health issue at the school office or with the school nurse, parents will be notified, as always. Parents will then be given the option to send their child to the clinic at ILMS for treatment.
If parents want their student(s) to be able to visit the health clinic, they must have the Community Health and Wellness Partners Program forms completed online.
Those are found in the OneView account at
https://indianlake.esvportal.com.
Be assured that even after signing the consent form, parents will still be contacted before minor children/students are seen by the providers or any treatment is administered and they will be advised of any outcomes and needed follow-up.
