The Indian Lake Board of Education started off the school year with an official financial update.
The entire Indian Lake staff came Monday for training and the district Open House Night for all buildings.
Dr. Underwood explains that staff participated in ALICE training on Monday before the all district Open House.
"We had a really big turnout here on campus--it's always one of my favorite nights. Tomorrow the staff will be in for district meetings and professional development and then we start Wednesday. We're so excited to get the kids back in the buildings."
District Treasurer Brady Hipsher gave the board the required financial forecast. Overall, the Indian Lake district is in solid shape financially, but Dr. Underwood explains that school leaders continue to pay close attention to the recent tax changes.
"We know that we're pretty much going to be flat-funded for the foreseeable future, so we continue to make sure that our staff matches our student enrollment trends," explained Dr. Underwood.
The Indian Lake Board of Education meets again September 21st at 5:30 pm. The first day of school at Indian Lake is Wednesday, August 19th.
