The 2026 Spring All Bands Concert was an emotional night full of musical accomplishments!
The 5th Grade Band, the 6th Grade Band, the 7/8th Grade Band, the ILHS Jazz Band and the ILHS Symphonic Band showed of their hard work this school year.
The ILHS Symphonic Band ended their section of the Spring All Bands Concert with a performance of the song "Incandescence."
Band Director Jason Fauley explained that incandescence is the emission of light during a chemical reaction.
Fauley was grateful to be leading the band through this special piece after a serious neurological illness kept him from being able to teach and direct for the first half of the 2025-26 school year.
In a heartfelt introduction to the song, he told the crowd his thoughts during that difficult and dark time, "In those moments, I focused on my light, which is what I consider the best job in the world---helping young people learn music. This is what motivated me and gave me the extra push when I thought there was no hope. I thought many times if I had the chance to direct just one more song with this group what it would be and I kept coming back to this song. Now it serves as a reminder of my light."
Fauley thanked the program's nine seniors and Assistant Director Morissa Sweeney for forging ahead in his absence.
Seniors are Danica Braun, Abby Hangholt, Xavier Johnson, Rylynn Matthews, Maddie Miller, Bryce Mohler, Lilly Phillips, Cambrie Warnecke and Sebastian Zook.
Finally, Fauley presented Abby Hangholt and Cambrie Warnecke with the Semper Fidalis Awards and Danica Braun with the John Philip Sousa Award.
