Recently released ACT test data reveals the scores of Indian Lake students are steadily increasing.  For the 2014-15 school year, Indian Lake's average composite score was a 22. This is up from prior years and in line with the state average composite score.

High School Principal Rob Underwood said, "Not many rural districts are able to match the state composite score, so I am really pleased with the efforts of our staff and students."

Underwood credits the school's focus on increased academic rigor. He says ILHS is fully aligned with Ohio's academic content standards. In addition, ILHS offers several College Credit Plus courses, which allow qualifying students to earn college credit while taking challenging classes during high school. Statistics show Indian Lake students excel particularly in the reading category.

With the upcoming implementation of a new 21st Century grant, Underwood expects the trend of rising ACT scores at Indian Lake to continue. “Starting in October we will be offering ACT prep classes as part of the Opportunity School at Indian Lake before and after regular school hours. These will be free of charge and open to any student who feels they need extra instruction to boost scores on the ACT.”

High school students will also be using the Career Advising curriculum through the Ohio Means Jobs website to prepare for the ACT.
