Monday was Opening Day for staff at Indian Lake Schools! Even in this uncertain environment, our staff members are excited to be back and to educate our students!
Superintendent Rob Underwood led a Frequently Asked Questions session during the socially distanced all-staff meeting first thing in the morning.
He said, "Why didn't we delay the start of school? Because it's our belief that it's imperative for students to be here. Being first (in the county) is a responsibility. We must do a good job."
Underwood also recapped some of the facility improvements, updated procedures and challenges facing the district. Board members also were on hand to help field questions and welcome staff back to school.
Staff members also received additional R-Factor training, focusing on the concepts of Adjust and Adapt as the theme for the school year.
Several staff members received awards for years of service, including retirees Barb Martin, Doris Miller, Joyce King and Chris Anders.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all staff members were given a package of several masks before returning to the individual buildings for team meetings.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19th

Because Indian Lake Schools were not able to host a traditional Open House Night, all three building held separate and slightly different events.

ILES educators sent details and instructions for "Open House" activities or Zoom meetings in their teacher letters. If your student did not receive a letter in the mail, please contact the ILES Office at 937-686-7323 as soon as possible.

ILMS educators hosted Zoom meeting with students and parents during the window of 3-4:30. If you or your student missed the Zoom meetings, feel free to email teachers. The information presented during the Open House zooms will also be repeated on the first day of school.

ILHS students were asked to drive by and pick up new copies of their schedules Monday afternoon. Students who do not pick up their schedules will receive them when they arrive on the first day of school in the cafeteria.
