The board unanimously agreed to three-year contracts with the Indian Lake Education Association and the Indian Lake Association of Classified Employees after negotiations earlier this spring.
Superintendent Rob Underwood says both sessions resulted in fair contracts for both sides.
"The negotiation process this year went exceptionally well, so I'm just really happy to get a contract in place with both unions that will last from 2021 through 2024."
Employees will receive a 2.5, 3.0, then 2.75 percent raise respectively during the three years of the contract.
In addition, board members voted to eliminate school fees for the 2021-22 school year. Underwood explains that the district's new ChromeBooks for each student have arrived and students in grades 5 through 12 will pay a $30 technology insurance fee.
"The board just felt that it was not fair to put families in a position to pay for school fees and the insurance technology fee. I think it's a great thing that the board did for our families to try to reduce those costs as we move forward with our one to one plan."
Finally, board members honored Indian Lake High School track star Dustin Franks. The recent graduate is the first Laker ever to compete in the Division II State Track and Field Meet in four events--high jump, long jump, 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles.
The Indian Lake Board of Education meets again on Monday, July 19th at 6:30 pm.
