The Indian Lake Athletic Boosters and school administration honored two long-time volunteers at a brief ceremony during a recent Indian Lake varsity football game.
Dr. Steve Grothaus was presented with the OHSAA Respect the Game State Award for his 25 years of serving as a sideline physician for sporting events. Dr. Grothaus is a local proctologist with a practice just south of Bellefontaine.
Committed volunteer Brenda Reichert was given the Respect the Game Award and an Appreciation Award from the Indian Lake Athletic Boosters for her 15 years of dedication to the group, serving in leadership roles and spending countless hours serving in concession stands.
Grothaus and Reichert each recently "retired" from their volunteer roles after their eldest children graduated.
The Lakers defeated Northwestern that evening 35-24 in a hotly contested CBC match up.
