Select students at Indian Lake Schools are getting their eyes and ears checked in the coming weeks. District Nurse Doris Miller says the exams are part of state required health screenings. All kindergarten, first and third graders at the Elementary, fifth and seventh graders at the Middle School and freshman at the High School will undergo tests to detect problems with vision and hearing. All students new to the district will be examined as well.  The tests can help determine if students suffer from deficient hearing, color blindness, stereopsis causing the eyes to work separately and other issues that could affect learning. Parents will be notified if their student needs follow-up care. Thanks to the many volunteers who help conduct the tests over several days.
